A Multiplicity Survey of L1641N

As part of an ongoing investigation into the formation of multiple systems, we are surveying the L1641N region of the Orion Giant Molecular Cloud (GMC) using speckle interferometry. During 1996 we observed pre--main-sequence stars in the L1641N region of the Orion A cloud, using high resolution (0."02 per pixel) speckle interferometry with the Keck 10 m telescope. 18 systems have been observed so far, 5 of which were detected to be binaries. Projected separations range from 0.15 to 2.68 arcsecs.
