TECHNOLOGY - OVERVIEW

The Galactic Center Group members primarily uses Keck Observatory to study the galactic center in the infrared. However to paint a complete picture of this turbulent region, members also use radio telescopes such as the VLA and x-ray space telescopes. Key members also are involved in the development and design of the future Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) in Hawaii. Read more...

Adaptive Optics (AO) is a technology that corrects for the change in the light's path (the wave front) as it travels through our atmosphere to the telescope. By using a fixed light source in the sky, real or artificial, the distortions in the wavefront can be measured and corrected for in real time. Read more...

The Galactic Center Group members are heavily involved with data reduction and visualization, that enhances the interpretation of the data. Read more...
